121. Airport Safety Announcement - Leslie

  • FADE IN:

  • INT. AIRPORT SECURITY CHECK - DAY

  • SOPHIA stands in the line for security check and stares straight ahead.

  • The place is packed with people but none grab her attention.

  • She wears a gypsy skirt and a simple blouse; her head is tightly wrapped in a scarf.

  • She carries her young daughter in a child carrier on her chest.

  • She stands in the line, face puffy and red from crying, the occasional tear still trailing down her wet cheek.

  • She makes no attempt to wipe the tears away, simply stands, occasionally leaning to whisper something to her child.

  • The line inches forward.

  • Her cell phone vibrates in her purse.

  • She looks up at the ceiling and begins whispering, still so soft that her flow of words is impossible to hear.

  • A TSA agent, notices and starts pushing through the line to get to her.

  • She looks down, removes a small trigger from her purse.

  • The TSA agent starts running.

  • TSA AGENT
  • Bomb! Bomb!

  • Sophia depresses the trigger and nothing happens.

  • She tries again and again, her face locked on the ceiling, glistening in the fluorescent light.

  • She is tackled by TSA agents, baby and all, and as they stand above her, yelling, she simply stares at the ceiling and cries.

  • FADE TO BLACK.
