FADE IN:
EXT. CAMPUS SIDEWALK - NIGHT
EVE sits cross-legged between street lamps on the sidewalk.
Snow gently falls around her, spotlit in the narrow beams of warm light pouring from the lamps.
Students huddled in thick jackets hurry by, tossing confused glances in her direction.
She raises her hands and closes her eyes as the flakes hit her skin and melt, slowly dripping down her wrists.
A thin hoodie covers her head, but a few thick strands of hair rebelliously poke out from underneath the cloth.
ALAN stops in front of her.
ALAN
Eve?
EVE
Hey Alan.
Eve?
EVE
Hey Alan.
She puts her hands down.
ALAN
You’re crazy.
EVE
I know.
ALAN
Seriously mad.
EVE
Shhh. Communing with nature right now.
ALAN
Mad.
EVE
Can’t you appreciate the very, very strange wonder of snow? I mean...flakes of water falling from the sky...and look at it under those lamps...like a thousand fairies at a quinceanera.
ALAN
Kwin who?
EVE
Nevermind...it just is one of those nights that feels like the parallel universes move a little closer to each other; it feels like a rabbit hole should open someplace; like I should be able to slip into a different world.
ALAN
Uh...
EVE
Didn’t you ever want to be Alice?
ALAN
Well, maybe a little.
EVE
Good, that’s a start. Sit down.
ALAN
What?
EVE
Sit down right here.
You’re crazy.
EVE
I know.
ALAN
Seriously mad.

Mad.

ALAN
What?
EVE
Sit down right here.
She pats the cement next to her.
ALAN
But it’s cold...
EVE
Sit.
Alan complies slowly.
EVE
Now hold your hands out.
But it’s cold...
EVE
Sit.
Alan complies slowly.
EVE
Now hold your hands out.
Alan gingerly takes his hands from his pockets and holds them tentatively out in the air.
Flakes begin to collect on his hands and water pools in his palms.
Light from the lamps reflects in the water as it drips down his hand.
EVE
Just feel that, look at that...magical.
ALAN
Cold.
Just feel that, look at that...magical.
ALAN
Cold.
Eve gives him a look.
ALAN
A little magical, fine.
A little magical, fine.
Eve smiles and closes her eyes.
They both sit, arms outstretched, flakes turning to liquid in their hands.
FADE TO BLACK.
